Douceur de Vivre transtlates to "the sweetness of living" -- exactly what this business is about. French pastries are created with special attention to both flavor and texture so that the end result is rich but very light. And of course, since the calories are French, the exchange rate works very much in our favor (pastries really couldn't care less about the advent of the Euro). The chef is actually a native of Anchorage, and has lived in Juneau for just over 10 years -- which, for those of you who have been here a little longer than that and because we get asked all the time, is not quite long enough to remember Le Petit Paris. She did have the good sense, however, to marry a Frenchman, whose wonderful mother, during several visits, continues to teach her the delicate and refined art of making French pastries.
